Try Meetily in your browser

Free online meeting recorder. Right in your browser.

Record a meeting online with your mic, a Zoom, Google Meet or Teams tab, or an audio file, and read the transcript as people talk. Speech to text runs on your device.

Free · No account · No bot in the call · Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox

Meetily’s free online meeting recorder runs in your browser. Record your microphone, a meeting tab with its audio in Chrome or Edge, or an audio file, and get a live transcript and an optional summary. No bot joins the call, there is nothing to install and no account, and your audio stays on your device.

How it works

How to record an online meeting in three steps

To record an online meeting in your browser, pick a source (your mic, a meeting tab with its sound, or an audio file), press record and read the transcript as people talk. Then stop and export it.

  1. 01

    Pick a source

Your mic, a meeting tab with its sound, or an audio file. Recording only yourself, like a voice note? Mic only does that, and so does the desktop voice recorder with transcription.

  2. 02

    Press record

The transcript fills in as people speak, split into Me (your mic) and Others (the tab or file).

  3. 03

    Stop and export

Generate a summary if you want one, then download the transcript and summary as Markdown and the recording as an audio file.

For desktop apps, built-in recorders and OBS, see the full guide to recording a meeting.

How to record a Zoom, Google Meet or Teams call in your browser

Join the call in a Chrome or Edge tab as usual. In the recorder, choose Tab or screen, pick the meeting tab in the share picker and tick “Also share tab audio”. That box starts unticked, and without it there is no sound to transcribe. Tab audio works on Windows and on a Mac.

If the meeting runs in a desktop app, share your entire screen with system audio instead. That works on Windows, and on macOS 14.2 or later. Wear headphones either way, or the call leaks into your mic.

You don’t need to be the host. Sharing a tab only captures what your own computer plays, so there is no meeting setting to approve. You still need to tell people you’re recording. Using Teams? Here is how to record and transcribe a Teams meeting without a bot.

The details

Online meeting transcription, live or from a file

The recorder transcribes online meetings live as people talk, and it can transcribe a recording you already have.

Best for anyone who needs to record and transcribe an online meeting today, on a computer where they can’t install software or don’t want a bot in the call.

Record a meeting without a bot

No bot, no extra name in the participant list, no meeting link to hand over. The recorder works from your own computer: your mic, plus the sound of the tab you share. Since nothing joins, telling people is up to you, so do it at the start. Read why no bot matters.

Private meeting transcription: your audio stays on this computer

Speech to text runs in the browser, on your machine. It uses Chrome’s built-in on-device speech recognition where your browser has it, and OpenAI’s Whisper base otherwise (about 240 MB with a GPU, 110 MB without, including a small speech detector). You see each size before anything downloads, the models come from public download servers, and you can delete any model in settings. Your audio, transcript and summary are not sent anywhere. The desktop app works the same way, with local AI transcription.

A live transcript, split into Me and Others

Lines appear while people talk. Your mic is Me, and the shared tab or file is Others. Telling each person apart is a Meetily Pro feature in the desktop app.

Transcribe a recording you already have

Choose Audio file, pick the recording and press record. The file plays and is transcribed with the same on-device speech, as Others. It runs at normal speed, so an hour of audio takes an hour. For long files and unlimited transcription in the desktop app, import the recording there instead.

No install, no admin rights, no account

No admin rights needed: there is no extension, add-in or installer, so it works on a laptop where you can’t install software. There is no signup and no card. The browser keeps the speech model in its cache so the next visit starts faster, and clearing the site’s data removes it. On a work laptop, check your company’s rules on recording tools first.

Summaries if you want them

After the call, generate a summary on your device with Google’s Gemini Nano, built into Chrome, or Alibaba’s Qwen3 1.7B (about 990 MB). The transcript works without one.

Works where

Where the online meeting recorder works

It works in Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox. Chrome and Edge on a computer also record a meeting tab’s audio; Safari, Firefox and phones record your microphone and audio files, transcribed on your device.

Chrome or Edge on a computer

Everything: your mic, a meeting tab with its audio, your whole screen with system audio, and audio files. Whole-screen audio works on Windows and on macOS 14.2 or later.

Safari and Firefox

Your mic and audio files, transcribed on your device with Whisper base. Recording a meeting tab’s audio needs Chrome or Edge.

Phones

Your mic, with speech to text on the phone. Meeting audio can’t be recorded on a phone, so send the link to your computer for that.

The desktop app

Records any meeting app through system audio on Windows and macOS, and saves your meetings. Get the free desktop app.

Desktop app

Free in your browser. More in the Meetily desktop app.

The browser recorder is a quick way to try Meetily. The desktop app records any meeting app and keeps your meetings.

Online meeting recorder: questions, answered

Yes. The browser recorder is free, with no account and no card, and the models it uses are free to download. If you want a desktop app later, the Community Edition is free as well. Pro is the paid plan.
No. It runs in a browser tab and there is no signup. On first use it downloads a speech model into the browser, unless Chrome's built-in speech recognition is available. You can delete the model at any time.
Yes. There is no extension or add-in. Everything runs in the page itself, so it also works on computers where extensions are blocked. Check your company's rules on recording tools first.
No. Nothing joins the call. Meetily's online meeting recorder captures your mic and the sound of the tab you share, on your own computer, so no extra participant shows up in Zoom, Google Meet or Teams.
Open the meeting in a Chrome or Edge tab. In the recorder, choose Tab or screen, pick the meeting tab and tick "Also share tab audio". For a desktop meeting app, share your entire screen with system audio, which works on Windows and on macOS 14.2 or later. Wear headphones so the call does not leak into your mic.
No. Meetily's browser recorder runs speech to text and summaries on your device and uploads nothing to cloud storage. The only downloads are the models. Your audio, transcript and summary stay in the tab until you export them.
Yes. Tell everyone at the start, and get consent where the law asks for it. One line is enough: “Quick note: I'm recording this call for my notes. Say so if you'd rather I didn't.” For what changes and what doesn’t when no bot is involved, read compliant meeting notes without a bot.
Yes. Choose Audio file, pick the recording and press record. The file plays at normal speed and is transcribed on your device. For long files, the desktop app imports and re-transcribes recordings.
Partly. Safari and Firefox record your microphone and audio files, and phones record your microphone, with speech to text on the device. Recording the other people on a Zoom, Meet or Teams tab needs Chrome or Edge on a computer, and on a Mac whole-screen audio needs macOS 14.2 or later.
Only Me and Others: your mic is Me, and the shared tab or file is Others. Meetily Pro, the paid desktop plan, tells each speaker apart on your device, live and on imported audio.
It's gone. The browser recorder doesn't keep meetings, so export the transcript, summary and audio before you close the tab. The desktop app saves meetings on your computer.
OpenAI's Whisper base takes about 240 MB with a GPU or 110 MB without one, including a small speech detector. Alibaba's Qwen3 1.7B, the optional summary model, takes about 990 MB. Chrome manages its own built-in models, and Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano needs about 22 GB of free disk. You can delete Meetily's models from settings at any time.
